Building a Culture of Independence Panel Discussion

Fifty years after the Great Society programs went into effect, we see nothing but failure and an increased dependence on government programs – creating a cycle of poverty that spans generations and becomes increasingly difficult to end.  It’s time Conservatives take the lead in solving society’s toughest challenges, and show how, by fostering responsibility, we can create a culture of independence.

This panel discussion highlighted the negative impact of government involvement in social services, while emphasizing the importance of a vital non-profit sector to help people help themselves. It included the following panelists: Jason Riley, Manhattan Institute, Secretary Eloise Anderson, Wisconsin Department of Children & Families, Nick Ringger, Community Warehouse, and Moderator, Alicia Manning, The Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.
